KDP Reporting
Did you know KDP gives you some useful reporting… but it still doesn’t really tell you WHY your books are selling? was asking if KDP gives you any analytics and...
Inside your KDP Reports dashboard, you can see things like:
• Orders by book, marketplace, format, and date
• Kindle Unlimited pages read
• Estimated royalties
• Previous month royalties
• Payments Amazon has sent you
• Historical sales performance
That information is helpful, but here’s what KDP DOESN’T really tell you:
Where did that sale come from?
Was it because of the Pinterest pin you posted?
Did someone find you through TikTok?
Did your YouTube video send people to Amazon?
Did your email campaign create those extra sales?
Did updating your keywords actually make a difference?
KDP shows you the RESULT, but it doesn’t give you much insight into the marketing activity that helped create it.
And this is one of the reasons I added tracking into the Author Success Kit.
Instead of randomly marketing your book and hoping something is working, you can start tracking what you’re doing alongside your book performance.
For example:
You post several Pinterest pins this week.
A few days later, you notice your book orders increasing.
Now you have something worth paying attention to.
Do that consistently and you can start identifying which marketing activities are actually worth your time — instead of trying to be everywhere at once.
The goal isn’t just MORE marketing.
It’s figuring out what marketing is actually moving your books.
If you already have the Author Success Kit, make sure you're using the tracking tools along with your content calendar.
