James Maertz is a sophomore who's earned a starting spot on the varsity team for Appleton East High School. The team has struggled in recent years and now has a new head coach and thanks to James' leg, a win in the books against a good rival in Green Bay Preble HS. 2 seconds left on the clock, 14-14 and James has a 34 yard kick for the win. Take closer look at what happens... East called a time out to stop the clock and put James in for the kick. Of course, the other team called another time out to ice James. His Coach comes out to talk to James (a little encouragement is always nice) and James takes his time to make sure everything is right. Until the ref moves the ball back a yard. His holder picks up his tee and moves it back. Good for James in resetting his own tee and retracing his steps and alignment. Remember, you have 25 seconds from when the ref blows his whistle to get the kick off. TAKE YOUR TIME. TAKE A BREATH. EXHALE. (Loosen your butt muscles 😉, seriously) NOD TO YOUR HOLDER. WATCH FOR HIS HAND TO COME OFF THE TEE TO GO. MAKE THE KICK. — — — James does. 17-14 WIN! Let the party begin!!! 🏈 🥳 🎉
