Cold Plunge?
Just posting random topics to get group insights. Anyone have a cold plunge regiment that has worked for you? Any random benefits you see from doing it? I have tried it a few times but not as consistent to measure any physical difference with my performance or overall health. Would love to hear your thoughts.

4 Week Challenge Result - From 227 to 237 Watts FTP
I have finished my 4 week challenge. My goal was to hit a 4 W/kg FTP by the end of summer 2026. Here’s what I wrote at the start of my challenge: ‘’Hi everyone! My name is Sviatoslav and I have been cycling since August of 2025. I got into cycling because I had a shoulder injury from skiing and I need something to replace gym. I did make some quick gains but I lacked consistency in my training. The biggest disruptor was a surgery on my shoulder. I was off bike for almost 6 weeks. It was quite hard to see my friends riding and getting stronger while I was loosing fitness. But I am back:) Yesterday I did 2*8 all out FTP test and I was quite happy with my results. I thought and felt that I can hold around 230w and that what I did despite terrible sleep. I decided to take 30min nap, then I drank coffee (I almost never drink it) and put some Metallica in my head phones. Legs felt quite good. The hardest part was to pace it and hold the same power on different gradient. I don’t plan any races this year. My main goal is to increase my w/kg and reach 4w/kg by the end of summer. Maybe I am a dreamer, but I will try. With new FTP of 208w and weight of 60.5kg I sit around 3.43w/kg. I don’t plan to lose any weight, so the only way is to increase my power. I need to gain at least 34w in 14 weeks. I hope this challenge will help me do that. Good luck to everyone!’’ After sickness, I restarted my challenge and wrote the following: I am back. Unfortunately, last time my training was disrupted by sickness at the last week. I was exited when Arne offered to restart the challenge. During my first test I got 207w FTP 8 weeks ago but now I got to 227w, so I am restarting this challenge with 20w improvement (9.6%). Quite happy with the results despite sickness and travel. My main goal is to reach this arbitrary number of 4w/kg by the end of summer, currently I am at 3.78w/kg. Good luck to everyone!’’ My 4 Week Challenge Results: 95% of workouts completed as planned Result 2x8 min test 1: 252 Watts
How should I measure FTP?
I have Magene PES515, which is one of the cheapest power meter. Today I rode over 38km in strong tailwind. That was so much fun! I averaged 37.6km/h and 213w. I had never recorded such a number. 213w is high for me. However, on my way back home, I had to run against the wind. I couldn't push hard as in tailwind. The power dropped so much. I realized FTP is environment-dependent. Then. How or where should I measure FTP? Do I need a smart trainer? And use it inside? I live in Tokyo, Japan. There isn't enough place I can run at high speed without traffic. [The blue man in the video is my friend. My bike is the MERIDA]
