Why your weekly check-in matters?
Your weekly check-in is one of the most important tools we've got, and I don't want you to skip past it. Think of it like this: your workouts and nutrition are the plan, but your check-in is how we know if the plan is actually working. Numbers like weight, blood pressure, and compliance tell us the "what," but your notes on challenges and how the program feels tell us the "why." That's huge, because two people can have the exact same program and get totally different results depending on what's going on in their life that week. On top of that, your SHREDS answers (sleep, hunger, recovery, energy, digestion, and stress) give us the full picture behind the scenes. You can be doing everything "right" in the gym and kitchen, but if you're not sleeping, your stress is through the roof, or your energy is tanking, that's going to show up in your results eventually. The more honest and detailed you are here, the faster I can catch small issues before they become big ones, and the better I can adjust your plan to fit your actual life, not just a cookie-cutter version of it. This isn't busywork. It's how we stay dialed in together, week after week. RECAP of SHREDS: The SHREDS Check-In: Why Your Gut Feeling Matters We track a lot of numbers around here — protein, calories, reps, sets. But some of the most important data points you have don't come from a scale or a tracker. They come from you. That's what SHREDS is: Sleep, Hunger, Recovery, Energy, Digestion, Stress. Six things only you can measure, because only you are living inside your body every day. No app can tell you if you woke up feeling ready to take on the world or if you're running on fumes. You can. Here's how to think through each one, comparing this week to last (on 1-5 scale): SLEEP — Are you getting 6-8 hours, consistently? Sleeping through the night, or tossing and turning, staring at the ceiling? Great sleep = 5. HUNGER — Is it manageable, or are you swinging between not hungry at all and full-on binging? Balanced hunger cues = 3. Barely hungry = 1. Raging hunger = 5.

Why I care about your muscle more than your weight
Two people step on the same scale. Same weight, same height, same age. The scale says they're twins. New research says one of them may be carrying a 42% higher risk of dying early, and the scale has no idea. THE STUDY YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT Researchers in Germany just published one of the largest analyses ever done on muscle and lifespan: 49 studies, more than 1.1 million adults, and 83,798 deaths, all pooled to answer one question. Does lean mass (everything on your frame that isn't body fat, which for our purposes mostly means muscle) predict how long you live? The answer was loud. People with low lean mass had a 42% higher risk of dying from any cause than people with high lean mass. For men the gap was even wider: 56% higher risk. And the finding held up across every age group, every region, and every cause of death they checked. My favorite detail: the strongest single predictor wasn't a high-tech body scan. It was calf circumference. A tape measure. People with skinny calves showed more than double the risk. Your calves, it turns out, are an honest witness: they shrink when the muscle everywhere else is quietly disappearing. WHY IT WORKS Muscle isn't just for lifting groceries. It's your metabolic engine: it soaks up blood sugar, keeps your metabolism running, and acts as your body's protein reserve, the thing you draw on when illness or injury knocks you down. Researchers call low muscle mass in later life sarcopenia, and it's tied to falls, frailty, and longer recoveries from everything. Here's the part that matters at any age: muscle doesn't disappear overnight. It leaks away slowly from your 30s onward, unless you give your body a reason to keep it. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU 1. Strength train two to three times a week. That's the non-negotiable. It's the strongest signal you can send your body to keep its muscle. 2. Eat enough protein, especially as you get older. Muscle you feed is muscle you keep. 3. Be careful with crash diets. Losing weight fast usually means losing muscle too, which is trading the wrong asset. 4. Judge progress by more than the scale. Strength going up and clothes fitting differently tell you more than a single number ever will.

💊 Lilly's New Weight-Loss Pill Just Landed — What is it??
You've probably seen the headlines about Foundayo, Eli Lilly's brand-new weight-loss pill. It got FDA approved back in April, and people are already asking me if it's "the shot, but in pill form." To be candid, I did not know too much about Foundayo until a client asked me about it a few weeks back. Now, with more asking me about it, I decided to do some research. Let's break down what it actually is, how it stacks up against Zepbound and Wegovy, and who it might actually make sense for. 🧬 WHAT IS IT, REALLY? Foundayo (generic name orforglipron) works on the same hormone pathway as Ozempic and Wegovy — it's called GLP-1. That hormone tells your brain "you're full" and slows down digestion, so cravings and portion sizes naturally shrink. The big difference: it's a pill you swallow once a day, not a weekly shot. 💊 WHY THIS ONE'S DIFFERENT - **No needles.** Straight up, it's a tablet. - **No fasting rules.** Take it any time of day, with or without food — unlike the other GLP-1 pill (Rybelsus), which makes you take it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and wait 30 minutes to eat. - **Simple dosing.** Starts at a tiny 0.8 mg dose and moves up roughly once a month, up to 17.2 mg. 📊 WHAT THE RESEARCH SHOWED - People on the top dose lost about **27 lbs** on average (roughly 12% of body weight) over 72 weeks. - Compare that to Zepbound and Wegovy, which showed **15-22%** body weight loss in their own trials. Foundayo isn't as strong — it only targets GLP-1, while Zepbound also hits a second hormone (GIP) that adds extra punch. - Bonus: waist size, blood pressure, and cholesterol all improved too, not just the scale. ⚠️ SIDE EFFECTS TO KNOW Same GI stuff you'd expect from this drug class — nausea, constipation, diarrhea — most common while the dose is still climbing, and it tends to settle down over time. Same warnings as the shots too (thyroid, pancreas, gallbladder), so it's a conversation for your doctor, not a decision to make solo. 💡 WHERE THIS FITS INTO THE PLAN
Banana: Green or Ripe or Brown Spots, Does it Matter?
🍌 That Banana on Your Counter Isn’t One Food — It’s Five Green, spotty, mushy… same banana, totally different nutrition depending on when you eat it. Most people just grab whatever’s closest. Let’s fix that. 🟢 GREEN (underripe) Mostly starch, barely any sugar. This is the “slow burn” banana — it feeds your gut bacteria like a prebiotic and barely nudges blood sugar (glycemic index ~30). Less sweet, more filling. 🟡 BARELY RIPE Starch is starting to flip into sugar. A little sweeter, still holding onto some gut-health perks. The best of both worlds. 🟡 RIPE (all yellow, no spots) Starch has almost fully converted to sugar. Blood sugar climbs faster here (glycemic index ~60), but you’re still getting fiber, potassium, and B6. This is THE pre- or post-workout banana. 🟤 VERY RIPE (spotty) Softer, easier to digest, sweetest stage for most people. If your stomach’s picky, this is your friend. 🟤 OVERRIPE (mostly brown) Highest sugar, mushiest texture, zero chill left in it. Don’t throw it out — throw it in a smoothie or banana bread. Nature’s sugar substitute. 💡 The move: Watching blood sugar or chasing gut health? Green or barely ripe. Need fuel fast before/after training, or baking something? Ripe to overripe. Neither one is “better” — just different tools for different jobs. 👇 Drop a comment: what’s YOUR go-to ripeness? Green gang or spotty squad? 📋 Educational only, not medical advice — check with your healthcare provider for specific concerns. Fuel it… train it… own it… that’s how you Outmuscle life by being Forever Strong. 💪
