Welcome to Ripple Effect Community Impact
I'm so glad you're here. This community is for business leaders and HR professionals who want to create meaningful connections between their employees, communities, and nonprofit partners. Together, we'll explore practical ways to turn good intentions into lasting impact while building stronger, more engaged businesses. If you would like to book a discovery call please click here. To get started, I'd love to get to know you. Please introduce yourself in the comments and tell us: - Your name - Where you're from - Why you decided to join Be sure to check the Calendar tab for upcoming events, live conversations, and new opportunities to connect. This community is brand new, and we're building it together. I'll be adding new resources, discussions, and ideas regularly, so keep checking back. Thank you for being one of the first people to join. I can't wait to see the ripple effect we create together.
Try It! - Here's a Filter
Here's a filter you can run any potential partner through in the next 10 minutes, before you say yes to one more thing. Ask three questions about them: 1. Do we actually share the same values, not just a nice mission statement? 2. Is this a partner already connected to our community, the one our employees actually live and work in? 3. Do they want a relationship with us, or just a donation? If you can't answer yes to at least two of those, it's probably not your partner, even if it's a good cause. Run this filter on the partner you're currently spending the most time or money on. Tell me what you found out. While you’re here, take a quick peek at this week’s conversations—you may have missed a good one, and we’d love to hear what you think!
Who Does Your Company Currently Support
Whether that's a nonprofit, a cause, a sponsorship, whatever it looks like for you? And here's the honest follow up: did you choose that partner, or did you kind of inherit it? I ask because so many of us are supporting something out of habit, or because someone asked once and it felt awkward to say no. That's not a bad thing, it's just worth naming. Tell me who you support right now and how that relationship actually started.
Try it! - Same Idea, Three Rooms
Quick one for you today: a way to say what you're building in one sentence, depending on who's in the room. I say it like this: community engagement isn't charity, it's a partnership. But the way I say that changes depending on who's listening. To leadership: "This isn't a cost center, it's a retention strategy." To employees: "This isn't something we're doing for you, it's something we're building with you." To a nonprofit partner: "We're not looking to write a check and walk away, we want a real partnership." Same idea, three rooms. Try saying your version of this out loud today, even just to yourself, and notice which one felt truest coming out of your mouth. Tell me which one it was.
From Good Intentions to Focused Impact
If you're supporting several different causes right now and none of them feel like they're actually going anywhere, I want you to hear this: that's not a sign you care too little. It's usually a sign you care a lot, about a lot of things, without a filter to choose between them. Spreading effort across everything feels generous. It also means nothing gets deep enough to actually change anything, for your team or the community you're trying to serve. If that's you right now, you're not doing it wrong. You just haven't picked yet.
