Oh just lighten up
You would never catch me in a………..
How silly. I have a wall of graphic tees in my closet. Most of them are either our band t shirts or the Boy Scout troop where I used to be the Scoutmaster and yes I find occasions to wear them. The trick in my mind is intentionality with consistency. The vast majority of the time anyone sees me out of the house my shirt will have at least a collar and at least half the time there will be a tie around my neck. After returning from Scotland and seeing the great world wide conformity of dudes in hoodies and graphic T’s and gals in spandex underwear (Aka LuLuLemon yoga pants), I feel like when I am wearing a tweed tie and sportcoat and tattersall shirt , today it’s like the leather jacket and blue jeans motorcycle (aka Fonz) was in the 1950’s: the rebellious loner (well sort of 😎). However, Just like a Rocky Mountain National Park coffee cup brings me favorable memories of my trips there, when I am wearing certain Graphic T’s around the house or out to the boat or even a dash into the hardware store, pleasant memories are evoked by them. Today’s outfit incorporates several of my favorite memories. Firstly I just took the tag off this one that I’ve had for well over a year. Given to me by my recently departed best friend and co leader of our 22 year old Celtic Band: Timothy O Brian’s Celtic Cheer I had to smile. Timmy introduced me to The Quiet Man movie that is a must watch ever St Paddy's Day. Tim and I quoted the line on the shirt every time we went to the pub so he surprised me with the shirt as a gift. My shorts are Orvis quick dry shorts with little fish motifs throughout and my shoes are Sperry Topsiders:
Most of my favorite things are wound into today’s lounge around the house OOTD
1) time spent with my best buddy and family (my son has been in the band over 10 years)
2) a third of my life in a band playing music
3) all things Celtic including my love of Irish/Scottish - Whiskey/Whisky
4) 2/3 of my life as a fly fisherman
5) 25% of my life as a sailor
So yea. A graphic Tee CAN be real men practicing real style. Later today it will be time to meet up with my comrades at the pub and talk a little treason 😉
