Today marks 24 years since I was diagnosed with a blood disorder.
I have now officially lived 24 years without a diagnosis and 24 years with one.
When I look back and think about everything that has happened over those years, I sometimes find myself asking, “How did I get through that?”
Honestly, I don’t have an answer.
What I do know is this: I may have a blood disorder, but the disorder doesn’t have me. It never has and it never will.
There were times when I never thought I wouldn’t make it to my wedding day and I never thought I would become a mum.
Yet here I am, 24 years later, incredibly grateful for the life I have been given.
To all the people I will never know who have donated their blood and plasma for patients like me the words thank you will never be enough.
Your generosity has helped give people like me more days, more memories, more milestones and more life.
