Fixation on ceiling fan
Hi all! I have an 8 month old rescue Chihuahua cross and could use some advice on hyperfixation.
Yesterday as the weather warmed up I turned the ceiling fan on for the first time and she got very spooked, and was barking and growling at it. I left it running for a bit hoping she'd desensitise but she didn't settle so I turned it off. For the rest of the day she was pacing, growling and couldn't be redirected at all.
Fast forward to today — the fan hasn't been on at all but she is still pacing and growling at it. I tried removing her from the room but she's just pacing and staring at the ceiling in the hallway instead.
She has completed the adolescent school and I've been trying the techniques I learnt but nothing is getting through because she is so heightened.
Any advice on how to handle this would be really appreciated as we have no aircon 😂
