Hey Zardify! 👋 Let's talk about the MONEY side of Pokémon's 30th Anniversary. I've been seeing a lot of hype around these products, but as someone who buys, sells, and trades Pokémon, I think there are a few things we need to consider before putting our money in. 📦 1. More Supply = More Risk? Pokémon is printing plenty of products, which is great because more collectors get a chance to enjoy the set. But from an investment perspective, there's a downside. More packs opened = more cards entering the market. As supply increases, singles prices can fall, especially when early prices are inflated by hype. That means smaller margins for sellers and potentially bigger losses for people buying at peak prices. 📈 2. Does That Make It a Bad Investment? Not necessarily! I actually think this anniversary set could be an interesting long-term investment. More supply doesn't automatically mean a bad investment. It might just mean a longer holding period. Instead of expecting returns in 6–12 months, investors may need to think in terms of 3–5+ years. Of course, there's no guarantee prices will rise, but I'm interested in how sealed products perform once they're no longer readily available. 🔄 3. Flipping Is Getting Harder This is where I see the biggest challenge. Scalpers and resellers are aggressively buying up products, making it harder to find inventory at retail. And when you're paying inflated resale prices, your profit margins become extremely thin. Remember: You make your money when you buy, not just when you sell. Paying too much for a popular product can turn a profitable flip into a loss very quickly. ⏳ 4. Why I'm Not Buying Right Now Personally, I'm holding off on paying resale premiums. With more anniversary products scheduled for October and November, I think there's a reason to be patient. More releases could ease some of the demand pressure and potentially create better entry points. I'd rather miss a deal than force myself into a bad one. 💭 Final Thoughts I like the set. I like the nostalgia. And I definitely see long-term collecting potential.
