Reaching out to my Representative
This is the second time I have reached out asking for a response back
Letter:
Dear Nathaniel,
I am writing to follow up on my previous correspondence, as I have not yet received a response.
I am contacting you to urge immediate action regarding the impending 22% benefit cut to Social Security, which is projected to occur after the next 75 checks. While the 1983 legislation secured the program for the subsequent 75 years, further legislative action is now urgently required. Although discussions are reportedly underway, there has been a lack of substantive progress for four decades, and we are now approaching a critical deadline.
It is vital that any new legislation resolves this issue without reducing benefits for Medicare, Medicaid, or SNAP (food stamps). Many recipients rely entirely on these programs to survive, particularly as the cost of living rises and current Social Security payments often fail to cover basic rent and food.
This matter is of the utmost importance to individuals who have worked and contributed to the system with the expectation of financial security when they can no longer work.
Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent issue.
Best regards,
Shauna R.
