Who does my mom need to talk to at Social Security, she did a form 44 and form 561 trying to get her IRMA fixed because she got scammed in 2024 and someone filed a tax return for over $440,000 so now her Medicare keeps going up different every month to about 750 next month. She has already told IRS it was fraudulent and stopped it before they got a tax return and has already been working with Social Security as well but she really is struggling and needs her money, please help any way you can.

@Ed Weir thank you she had already talked to IRS and went back up to social security and they said all they are waiting for is to know how much and put in her account so I hope it is soon because she is already living with me and lost her apartment but that is okay it is just her and I.

@Gail Williams yes, unfortunately I even tried to do a garden myself here in Texas but once it got hot I couldn't handle going out to take care of it and nobody to help me so I will have to start over in the fall and I used to run a chicken farm for a major company so I know this is not the way we get healthy because I saw how many I would have to put in the incinerator every day from dropping dead from heart attacks because they were fed the wrong things and never saw daylight. I so wish we could go back to the family farming 😔.
Has Dr. Ed helped you? Please share your story here.
Hey everyone! If you’ve been here a while, you’ve probably seen how many new members arrive scared, confused, and worried they’re about to make an irreversible mistake with Social Security or Medicare. Filing for social security and medicare and making sure you get it right as well as retiring and starting a whole new life is a very difficult and stressful time in everyone's life. Reading a real story from someone who’s “been there” can calm people down faster than any brochure. If Dr. Ed or this community has helped you in any way, would you be willing to share your story in the comments? You don’t have to write anything fancy. Just answer these in your own words: 1. What was going on before you found us? 2. What were you most worried you might mess up? 3. What almost kept you from asking for help or joining? 4. What did you actually do here that helped (class, checklist, Q&A, plan, etc.)? 5. What’s better now because of that help? (Only share dollars or details if you feel comfortable.) Your story might be exactly what a scared new member needs to read at 2 a.m. so they don’t feel alone. Quick safety note: please don’t post your SSN, full claim number, or other very private details. Keep it to your situation, what you did, and what changed. Thank you for being willing to help the next person in line.

I'm going to start with me, I am on Disability unfortunately because of Multiple Sclerosis but my mother is a retired nurse so I found Ed Weir after I started receiving my benefits after waiting 15 months. Nobody told me I could apply for SSI and while waiting for SSDI I could have been getting SSI, they did ask me if I wanted to do an application for SSI but I told them no, why, because I thought they would stick me on SSI forever and I have worked all my life, yes I really thought this. So, after waiting for 15 months and really struggling to try and do what gig work I could (barely do without help) that my daughter would do with me doing Doordash and Uber eats and barely making $400 to $500 a month I finally called Social Security myself and asked them if I had an application in for SSI and she informed me I only had for SSDI so she helped me over the phone to do an application for SSI and the next week I was approved then the next month I was finally approved for SSDI. My situation may be different from others so I want say that SSI is welfare based so if you maybe have too much income coming in you may not be able to get SSI but you will only know if you apply but I will warn you that you are initially saying they can check bank statements etc so please let everyone know to be honest. My mom's story My mother, after being told by all her grandkids and me, well she was lonely so talking to a scammer and she had given this scammer all of her information and the scammer was so nice he ordered her a pizza and had delivered to her apartment. This scammer used her income to file taxes of about $440,000 and was trying to get a refund of almost $40,000 so my mother had gotten something in from IRMA because they were going to be taking almost half her check. If it wasn't for Ed Weirs videos and us being able to send in video questions to find out what we needed to do she probably would still be paying outrageous amount to IRMA, after her reaching out to the IRS to let them know it was a fraudulent tax and Ed Weir telling her what to do at Social Security she is finally going to get back everything that had been taken out the last 6 months, yes you heard right 6 months that caused her to lose her apartment and now she is staying with me. I love my mother and I would have never thought we would be living in a World where you have to be careful someone is going to take advantage like that but here we are so please please please don't answer calls you don't know and don't be giving out your information over the phone no matter who they say they are, hang up and you call the business, bank, social security or whoever and don't believe these lies they try to say that thier general is going to be mad please send money so they can buy a new gun to replace lost one, they need money to get back home and they have a mansion in California blah blah blah.
Online SSA Benefits application
I started and answered all the questions on the online form for benefits. I got to the last page of the form and found no finish icon or line to click non place to hit submit. Only save and continue later. I went to my local SSA office. While there I explained to the representative at the window and answered my personal questions. The result was a telephonic appointment interview next month. What happens next?

Hopefully someone will answer but for me I called because I was still waiting for SSDI after 15 months and I had heard you can get SSI while waiting for SSDI so I called Social Security and asked them if I had both applications in for SSI and SSDI and she said I only had for SSDI so she helped me over the phone to do an application for SSI and the next week I was approved for SSI then the next month I was finally approved for SSDI so I hope this helps you and maybe you can call back and get another person that will help you.

WISeR Model Medicare
The legislation introduced in Congress to block or repeal the Medicare Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) model is known as the Seniors Deserve SMARTER (Streamlined Medical Approvals for Timely, Efficient Recovery) Care Act. WISeR Model Overview - Program Goal: A 6-year federal pilot running from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2031, testing technology-enabled prior authorization for traditional Medicare in six states, including Texas. - Target Services: Outpatient services prone to high utilization or unnecessary care, such as certain spinal procedures, nerve stimulators, and joint treatments. - Contact & Help: For official inquiries regarding the federal model, contact CMS at 844-711-2664 (Option 8) or email [email protected]. For general Texas Medicare assistance, call the state help line at 800-252-9240. Legislative Pushback - The Bill: Introduced by lawmakers to repeal WISeR due to concerns over private vendor structures and the use of automated or AI-driven tools in coverage decisions. [1] - Committee Action: Congressional committees have advanced measures and votes aimed at blocking or defunding the implementation of the pilot.
