KDP: Identity Verification Required
( @Michael Culp: If this isn't appropriate for this group, I'll take it down.) For many of us, we have a KDP Account where we work with our books. Every so often, Amazon will ask you to verify your identity. This usually takes only a minute or two, and is quite painless. (They don't even draw any blood!) The consequences of NOT doing this, however, can be dire. Failure to verify will cause Amazon to cancel your account. Without recourse for recovery, as I understand it. For me, that would be quite painful. I have 22 items up on the Amazon Marketplace. Finding another place to list and sell these would be nigh onto impossible. (I can move them, yes; I have ISBNs for all my items. But still.) What's involved? First, check the information shown on their page. Name, address, etc. Then they want you to capture a photo of a government ID. There's a very nice "Continue on Another Device" option to take the photo; I used my smart phone, as my desk camera's bad at photos. You scan a QR code, take the photo, then take a photo of your (smiling!) face. The phone sends everything and you are returned to the computer page. After about 30 seconds, a "Verified" response comes onto the page, and you're done. I made sure my bank account and other info were all correct. Check your email for a new email from Amazon (usually in your Updates, if you use that tab). It will say "Your identity was successfully verified." Done! Easy Peasy. So if you get a request for verification from KDP, do this! Only: Check the URL first. It must come from https://account.kdp.amazon.com/identity. Otherwise, it's dodgy... Enjoy!

This happened to me a while back. It does NOT always happen after you open your account. In fact, mine didn't come up until about a year after publishing my first books and receiving royalties.

@Mitch White Yeah, I freaked out when I got the email thinking someone hacked my account or was trying to make some sort of identity claim. But I thought at the time it was because I was making money and they needed to verify identity for US tax purposes or something.
Where do you read Ebooks
And what is your favorite format? For me its never simple: Mostly on my android phone using: Cool Reader - ugly but will read a standard epub aloud Kindle App - far too many books locked behind the Amazon wall Barnes & Noble App - clean, easy, imports epubs I prefer epub for general reading, PDF for picture books, magazines, manuals And for comics I use perfect reader for cbz,cbr formats On my very old iPad mini almost always apples books and epubs And on my Windows tablet ( because I couldn't afford a new android tablet and this one was CHEAP) Kindle app, perfect reader, sublime text, and foxit PDF reader And yes there are a half a dozen very old actual Kindles running around the house. I read on two of them. My version do star Trek PADDs. Yeah I know I'm complicated ...and I have an idea..... But I need some answers. What apps do you like ? Where do you read Ebooks the most? What features would you like to see in an Ereader that you currently don't have? And even if you think you've guessed right, *just* another Ereader is NOT where I'm going with this. Remember my goal is to help you write the books AND sell more of them. Stay with me folks.

Strangely... I prefer to read second hand books. I love seeing where others have highlighted, underlined, or made notes in the books. It's almost like reading a book, and someone's personal journal. If I am reading digital only, usually Kindle apps or my Paperwhite.

I'm going to pin this to the beginning of the page and would like it see if everyone wanted to post their books that they've written on here. You can post as many links as you want as often as you want. I'd like to celebrate wins for everyone!

This was my first novel. It was more of a personal project that lasted well over 20 years. It was published almost a year ago, and I am going to be redesigning the cover soon. The person I hired on Fiverr was extremely complicated and I had a deadline so I had to accept what I got. A link to amazon is attached to check it out, but it's available worldwide on other retailers. Borders, Books a Million, etc. Or if you Google "In Dreams, We Love Again" it should come up. https://link.amazon/B09SH2ldN

@Michael Culp LOL, well if you make it through the book, please let me know! Believe it or not... based on true events. Long story, but a lot of the events are true, and the people are based on real people, actions, etc.
