Hello everyone, Justin Creekmur I’m from western Kentucky, welder by trade but always had more interest in the auto body and painting. Over the years I’ve heard complaints in my area of shops not wanting to metal work or weld on panels anymore. If it can’t be replaced then paint it wasn’t worth the time. We only have one shop in the area specializing in restoration and there backed up months or more on jobs. When I got serious 3 years ago building my own classic truck, I really dug in on learning everything I could. Along the way I traded some panel work for assistance and knowledge to aid my own rebuild journey. After a little push from my local jobber I’m starting to look at some side work ways I can use my welding skills to help others in my area want to have an old car or truck to enjoy. I thank Arron for this page as it has helped a lot and answered a lot of questions. The first thing I learned for my area is autobody shops do not want to teach or discuss how to with anyone and none of the trade schools teach auto anymore. I hope to continue learning and having the opportunity to put what I learn to use.

Thank you, this build is a 91 Silverado, multiple paint colors with areas of cracker failing filler with rust under it. I have stripped this to bare metal. Sanded or replaced all the rusted areas and treat with metal prep. I done my metal finish on dents and used fiberglass filler on those areas I couldn’t get a good metal finish them gave the truck 2 good coats of epoxy from genesis g-121. I let set for roughly 2 weeks at current temperatures at that were in the 80’s. Blocked the epoxy with 180. Addressed lows with filler ( upol professional) spot sprayed any large bare spots with epoxy. Scuffed back over with 220 then applied 3 heavy coated of upol 2253 high build. Blocked that recoated with up2253 slightly reduced and blocked again at current 320. I planning to go over all the panels with 400,600 on my orbital. I’m thinking this will get me ready for sealer base clear.
