Sam said not wait for Growth Boost to work. Do this instead.
I've always understood that bringing in our own traffic to our communities is the responsibility of the community owner. The Growth Boost came, and while I still understood that, I didn't understand how it really worked. Growth Boost will only boost what we are already boosting ourselves. So, while it was nice for a while when Discovery was sending us members with less work, now it is really up to us to bring in our own traffic. My goal is to increase my efficiency score by the end of the year. One way I will be doing that is by doubling down on one platform and going live weekly. Q4 is a great time to get on YouTube. Many people will be forced indoors with the cold and will be consuming lots of video. 😁 🍿 Anyway, I am inviting you to my next live stream tomorrow. I will be talking about my double down strategy for Q4. It is a strategy that has always brought me great success. Date: Oct. 9th Time: 12:30 PM EST Location: YouTube

@Kate Galli Yeah it was a little confusing. I really thought turning up my boost to 70% was going to have some impact and it has had none. lol I guess we just gotta use some elbow grease and work on it ourselves first. 😆

@Kate Galli Yes totally agree :)
I'm shutting up shop. That's it.
Sorry not sorry for the title. I'm closing my Skool Monetization Lab community, and the reason is simple. I give away good content for free, and free members don't act on it the way my paying members do. I'm in my 50s, and I don't have time to waste like the younger "whippersnappers" (I have never written that word before 🤣). For me, time is currency, so I looked at this as return on time. In my paid communities, people have put money in, so they turn up and do the work. In SML, free content gets treated like a free sample. People take it and don't act on it 😏 That gives me a simple rule on pricing: 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰: a low-priced subscription is the better model, because paying filters for people who will act. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁: stay free. A price on an empty room only leaves you with an empty room. My own traffic comes from YouTube, and that's what keeps my paid communities full. Two more reasons. There are now a lot of free communities teaching the same thing, so it's hard to look different from the one next door. And the same hours in my other communities earn more. I use one test. If I'm not hearing at least one "KACHING" a week, the time and resources are being wasted. SML started as a test, and it worked at the beginning. Then Skool changed the rules. I'm not going to sit and cry about it. I've never been afraid to kill what isn't working, so I'm closing the doors. 𝗜'𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. 𝗔 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿. Here's how to check yours this week: Add up the hours you spent on it last month, including posting, replying and prep. Then count the sales, bookings or paid sign-ups that came from it. Divide the hours by the sales and you have your number. If you can't point to at least one sale a week, ask yourself two questions. Do I bring my own traffic? Would the people in here pay for what I give them? If the answer to the first is no, the pivot may be as small as changing who you're bringing in.
I'm shutting up shop. That's it.

I also closed my free community for many of the reasons you mentioned. I also know what we focus on grows so if we are focussed on two many things, it all becomes a mess.

@Des Dreckett yes! The sands shifting is a good way to put it. 😆
2 communities I built because I'm lazy
I took a lot of courses, tried plenty of frameworks, watched too many videos and got nowhere. I have tutorial hell trauma. So I don't care about courses and frameworks on skool, I can't stand most classrooms. I care about building stuff, validating it and meeting new interesting people. If I need to learn something, I ask the right questions at the right place. Sometimes it's AI because it's quicker. Other times AI is too stupid and I go for human feedback. So I created Roast & Promote a place where I can just make a post and get instant feedback on what I'm building. Cool, right? But sometimes I need more than just feedback. I need someone to listen to my strugle and help me plan my next step to get unstuck. To figure out what I could do to grow my busiiness right now. And most of the times, the solution for that is being presented at one more framework, long video courses or locked behind a secret mastermind. Well, I'm tired of that, I just want a community to talk business stuff without pushing another secret formula that problably doesn't fit what I'm building. A place where we can just focus on getting shit done without having to learn another gimmick, a place with just interactions between entrepeneurs and not more content to consume. > This place! <

Congrats on the new community! 🥳
The most important thing I did to growing on Skool
Was being active in other groups like this one and plenty others. At first I was insisting on an idea that wasn't what people want to buy. Than after observing the most successful groups and offers I figured out something that people would find valuable and that fit my skills. And as a result I pivoted from tech support to marketing and advertizing. And thus Roast & Promote was born! A place where you can figure out what is wrong with your copies, designs, about page, content... all while networking with people who are in the same boat as you! You can learn a lot by helping others and seeing what they are offering, and m group is the perfect place for that.
