I wanted to share a lesson I learned while trying to get my first client. For those who don't know, AlertFenua is a communication platform I built for municipalities in French Polynesia. It helps local governments keep residents informed by sharing alerts, local news, events, roadworks, public notices, and other important information through a dedicated mobile app. At first, I thought the key to winning my first client was explaining every feature the platform offered. I spent a lot of time talking about what it could do and how it worked. But I quickly realized that wasn't what built trust. What made the difference was showing a real, working product. During the live demo, they could see how easy it was to publish information, send notifications, and imagine how it would improve communication with their residents. From that moment on, the conversation changed. It was no longer, "Does this project work?" but rather, "How can we implement it in our municipality?" That experience taught me an important lesson: people don't just buy an idea—they buy confidence that it already works. I'm curious—how did you land your first client? What was the moment that made them trust you? I'd love to hear your story. 👇
