I’ll be 66 years old in September 2026 and if I apply for SS in October 2026 I have to be at or below the earnings annual test which is 25k. My salary is 8,500 monthly so for the months Nov and Dec I would be under the 25k right? I really need the funds so this is why I need to know if I am working and annually salary is $98k if I start receiving my SS in Nov and December will I be ok as long as I’m under the annual earnings test? I do turn 67 in Sept 2027 so the earnings test is 65k so I’ll be right at the 65k for the months January thru August. so I wouldn’t have to give a dollar for every 3 dollors.
If you're going to go over the annual earnings limit, the $24,480, and also earn over $2,040 in the months you start collecting Social Security benefits, then they're not going to start your benefits this year.
After watching videos and getting answers to my posted questions on this site — gaining confidence (and correct wording I learned here) I was able to find out from a SS phone call, I can file on my deceased ex-husband survivor benefits 4 months before I turn 60. I was able to check off all the requirement boxes SS officer asked me. I didn’t feel confused, it was nice being prepared. I also learned he made more money so I plan to ride on his SS and switch to mine at a much later date. THANKS ED!
That is so awesome. Thanks for letting me know, and make sure you keep watching, and let's get other people out there the benefits they're eligible for.

I just turned 65 and I'm trying to decide whether or not to start Social Security or not. If I wait until I'm 67 I will gain $300 per month which is definitely be better. My problem is having to sign up for Medicare and having to pay out of pocket until I start SS. I was married for 34 years before getting a divorce. Can I draw on my ex-husband's benefits to cover the cost of my Medicare so that I can wait until I'm 67 to start to draw my SS?
The Denver, Colorado is reviewing my application and they say they will complete in 30 days. I do not work anymore and my last 2-3 years income was less than $3,000/year. I have two minor boys (age 17 & 14) and I have a scheduled appointment over the phone on Sept. 3rd to apply for children benefits. I am married so I plan to ask for child in care benefits for my wife during the September 3rd interview. Simple question, how can I prepare for the September 3rd meeting? How is the Denver district office (should they finish within 30 days)?
@Bradley Buckwalter that sounds like a standard letter the computer generates. If you didn't work, then you don't need to provide your W-2s or anything. Sounds like they've got some money and they want to know where to deposit it, so I would take what you have. They will tell you if you need anything at that time, but it sounds good if they want to give you some money.
