Maybe it’s consistency in your nutrition, in your tracking, or in saying no. Maybe it’s discipline in training and exercise adherence. Maybe it’s the voice in your head saying: “This won’t work. Why even keep going?” Awareness always comes before adjustments. But, the crazy part? Once we’ve identified the weak link, instead of facing it… most people STILL run from it. They disguise it. They overcompensate with their strengths and hope the bottleneck magically disappears. We distract ourselves with the areas that feel safer. We double down on the gym when deep down we know food is the bottleneck. We get sidelined due to life or injuries or from overtraining, and instead of using that as the perfect opportunity to fully surrender to nutrition, we use it as a scapegoat to go all or nothing and abandon our goals. That last story was anecdotal, that was me. That was my story. Avoidance plagued me. I’ve obsessed over macros when I knew it was really my mindset holding me back. I buried myself in busy work at my jobs while avoiding the one skill that could truly move my career forward. Most recently, in my business, it was content. I hated it. I despised it. I sucked at it. But I know that it is the vehicle to more growth. Running a business there are so many different areas, tasks and skills .. So I doubled down on marketing, outreach, and classroom lessons. But deep down I knew I was running. The second I leaned into it, everything shifted. Avoidance feels safer and it’s way easier. It lets us feel productive without addressing the root. But here’s the truth: the growth you want is waiting in the exact place you’re avoiding. I used to do this with teaching too. I’d procrastinate on the important meetings and tasks, disguising weak points by “over performing” elsewhere. And I thought if I just did enough of the other stuff, maybe it would compensate. But it never did. It just led to a ridiculous amount of self induced stress. The bottleneck is the bottleneck until you face it. Period.
