Honoring myself

I did a new thing today. I am visiting and staying with my son while away for a funeral. And I wanted to go visit lake superior today after the funeral...about a 20 minute drive from my son's house. Old me would have stayed with my son out of guilt (because how dare I go do something for myself) but today instead I took 2 hours, drove to the lake, hiked along the shoreline and drove back. No big deal..meaning he was not bothered in the least. Very big deal for me to honor what I needed.
