I uploaded a short excerpt of Pierre Poilievre’s remarks at the “Cyrus the Great II” gathering in Toronto that happened about a week ago. For those who don't know, Polievre is Canada's official opposition leader. I'd recommend watching the entire speech.
What stands out to me about his speech is that he isn't merely expressing sympathy for Iranians. He references the Lion and Sun directly and publicly says that he hopes to one day raise the Canadian flag in Iran; this makes his message much more politically significant than a generic diplomatic statement.
In the clip, Poilievre is essentially presenting freedom not as something a government gives people, but as something inherited from previous generations and entrusted to future ones. That was very powerful.
