I have another challenge for every one of you this week.
I want you to watch my newest documentary:
"What Happens Inside Your Arteries Before a Heart Attack"
This may be one of the most important cardiovascular documentaries I've created because it changes how we think about heart disease.
Most people imagine an artery as nothing more than a pipe that slowly fills with cholesterol.
But that's not what an artery is.
An artery is living tissue.
It senses blood flow.
It responds to blood pressure.
It communicates with immune cells.
It adapts to the environment surrounding it.
And for years before a heart attack, an invisible biological story may already be unfolding.
In this documentary we explore:
• The living endothelium.
• The glycocalyx.
• Blood flow and shear stress.
• ApoB-containing particles.
• Plaque formation.
• Why arteries often remain open despite disease.
• Why some plaques remain stable while others become dangerous.
• Why a heart attack often begins years before symptoms appear.
One of the biggest lessons from this documentary is this:
A heart attack may be sudden.
The biology that prepared the ground rarely is.
My goal isn't to make you afraid of cholesterol.
My goal isn't to convince you that one food caused everything.
My goal is to help you understand that your arteries experience your entire biology, not one laboratory marker, one supplement, or one meal.
Remember...
Your arteries are alive.
They are responding to what happens today.
📚 HOMEWORK
After watching the documentary, answer these four questions in the comments.
1. What was the biggest thing you learned that you had never heard before?
2. Did this documentary change how you think about cholesterol, ApoB, plaque, or heart attacks? If so, what changed?
3. Which part of your own biology do you now think deserves the most attention?
Examples:
• Blood pressure
• ApoB
• Blood sugar
• Sleep
• Exercise
• Kidney function
• Inflammation
• Stress
• Smoking history
• Family history
• Something else
4. If you could test or improve ONE area of your cardiovascular health over the next 6 months, what would it be, and why?
There are no right or wrong answers.
The purpose of this community has never been to defend a diet.
The purpose has never been to defend a laboratory marker.
The purpose is to understand biology so we make better decisions before disease makes them for us.
I'm looking forward to reading every response because we all arrive with different histories, different risk factors, and different biology.
The more we learn from one another, the better we become at understanding ourselves.
🎥 Watch the documentary, then come back and post your homework.
