I picked up several items from the tailor last night. In trying them on, I recognized that the level of fit across items is really starting to come together. Two items I picked up were new MTO/MTM trousers from Proper Cloth. I have a few of their dress shirts but heard good reviews on their other tailored items so I wanted to give them a go given that they had a Labor Day sale. I got a pair of stone (off-white) chinos and light gray wool slacks. The fit on these were great, except that the legs were too short. However, they left plenty of extra fabric, so the tailor had lots of extra fabric to bring down the break, even for a pair with a cuff included from Proper Cloth. I also added suspender buttons to both slacks, which was an odd item to not allow me to select when ordering from Proper Cloth. The fabric in the gray trousers is a rich weave in both texture and shade. I have included a close up of the fabric. Although the fabric is the biggest variant for overall cost, the total cost for their MTO/MTM trousers during the sale with VBC tropical fresco wool was just under $300. The fit and feel belay that price point.
• Sports Jacket — BOJ-012 (Haspel): A lightweight tan-and-cream cotton seersucker jacket with mid-gray accents, partial lining, notched lapels, and a two-button front. The breathable texture provides structure without excessive warmth and anchors the light, summery palette.
• Shirt — DS-051 (Savile Row Company): A blue-and-white puppytooth cotton Winchester shirt with white cutaway collar, French cuffs, and cream buttons. Tagged 16–35.5 after sleeve alteration; it uses 2.5-inch collar stays.
• Undershirt — US-003 (Pro Club): A heavyweight white cotton crew-neck undershirt in XL with a roomy fit and near-elbow sleeves. Its opacity provides a clean foundation beneath the patterned shirt.
• Trousers — SL-028 (Proper Cloth): Made-to-measure light-gray VBC tropical-fresco wool trousers with inward pleats, side tabs, and 1.25-inch cuffs. The open weave and matte finish complement the seersucker jacket while remaining comfortable in warm weather.
• Tie — NT-047 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A pink and dark-pink silk tie with small navy polka dots, contrast tipping, and hand-finished edges. The restrained pattern bridges the blue shirt and pink accessories without competing with the jacket’s seersucker texture.
• Pocket Square — PS-039 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A matte pink linen square with white polka dots and a mid-blue border/accent. A peaked or presidential fold adds definition while keeping the shirt, tie, and square visually distinct.
• Braces — SB-008 (Kirby Allison): Hydrangea-pink button braces in lightweight nylon with silver hardware and black calf-leather loops. The solid Y-back design echoes the tie’s pink field while remaining concealed beneath the jacket.
• Footwear — DSh-002 (Stacy Adams): Navy Kallum cap-toe Oxfords in smooth burnished leather with navy waxed laces and rubber soles. Their color connects with the tie’s navy dots and provides a softer warm-weather alternative to black shoes.
• Socks — DSo-087 (Fort Belvedere): Lightweight Italian cotton dress socks in pink and gray shadow stripes with a forest-green upper band. The hand-linked toes and subtle pattern continue the pink theme without simply duplicating the tie.
• Cufflinks — CL-007 (David Donahue): Purple-and-pink checker cufflinks crafted from .925 sterling silver. Their cool silver metal coordinates with the tie bar and braces hardware while the colored faces complement the pink accessories.
• Tie Bar — TA-011 (Sonia Jewels): A polished two-inch slide-on tie bar in .925 sterling silver. Its clean, restrained profile keeps the tie controlled and reinforces the outfit’s consistent silver-metal treatment.
• Watch — W-006 (Fossil): The 44 mm Fossil Townsman Automatic has a blue skeleton/open-heart dial, polished steel case, gold accents, and a mid-brown leather strap. The blue dial supports the shirt and shoes, while the mechanical display adds visual interest without overwhelming the ensemble.
• Ankle Watch — W-001 (Apple): The 46 mm slate-titanium Apple Watch 10 is worn on the ankle solely for health and activity-data collection. It is not a visible sartorial accessory and is not part of the outfit’s visual coordination.
• Pen — P-006 (Montblanc): A Montblanc Meisterstück 149 fountain pen in high-gloss black precious resin with polished platinum trim. Its medium 18K gold nib is filled with Kon-peki/P3-logo blue ink, making it a substantial leadership-grade writing instrument.
• Wedding Ring — R-001 (Ellie’s Jewelry): A platinum wedding ring set with diamonds. Its cool metal naturally aligns with the cufflinks, tie bar, and other silver-toned hardware.
• Business Card Carrier — BCC-001 (Fort Belvedere): A black rippled German-aniline-leather bifold with silver clasp hardware and a green goat-velour interior. Its rigid two-sided construction holds approximately 40 cards while fitting neatly in a jacket pocket.
• Wallet — WL-001 (Montblanc): A black Montblanc Extreme Collection eight-card bifold in full-grain calfskin with a carbon-fiber print. The structured texture and subtle emblem provide a modern, professional finish.
• Fragrance — FR-029 (Creed): Green Irish Tweed opens with bergamot, lemon, and peppermint over geranium, lavender, oakmoss, and woods. Its moderate projection and fresh green character suit a warm office day with internal video conferences.
