Whew, this is powerful. ❤️ To know you are truly loved changes how you walk through everything in between the wins, the losses, the healing, and the becoming. Love really does give us something to hold onto through it all.
What's the appropriate age to give your child a phone?
What's the right age to give your child a phone? I know most of are American parents, but I'm an African parent. I give my daughter a phone last year on her 13th birthday, but an incident happened that is trending on social media that made me question myself if I did the right thing. I control her phone and she doesn't use it during school days since she's in boarding. A15 years old boy groomed a younger girl of 8years into having phone s..e..x. This happened through Snapchat. He told the little girl that if she didn't do what he said, he would go to their house as ghost and hurt her and her mom. The girl tried to tell him that God will punish her for doing such act, but this boy kept on convincing her that it was okay. She is young, but she knows God. Somehow, she agreed to do what he told her and she even sent him photos and he also send her his nudes. I feel sick just writing this. How often do you check your child's phone? Have you taught them about grooming, manipulation, inappropriate messages, strangers online, sexual exploitation, and what to do when someone makes them uncomfortable. And most importantly, we need to teach them that, “If anyone asks you for a sexual picture, threatens you, scares you, or tells you to keep a secret from your parents, come to me immediately. You will not be punished for telling me.” That's how her innocence has been exposed to world, with the incident spreading across media. What a nightmare for the parents! Though I restricted certain apps from daughter's phone, but I'm still terrified when such incidents happen.

I have 2 under 2 right now, so I know I have some time before I’m faced with this decision, but personally I’m in no rush for my girls to have phones. My oldest has an iPad that I monitor, and even with that I’m very intentional about what she has access to. Of course, my opinion may change as they get older, especially when there’s a need for them to contact me. But right now, I just don’t see the need for a young child to have unrestricted access to a smartphone or social media. There’s so much they can be exposed to before they’re emotionally mature enough to understand what’s happening. And beyond what happens online, I want my girls to have situational awareness in the real world too. I see so many kids walking around completely glued to their phones and unaware of what’s happening around them. The biggest thing for me will be teaching my daughters that there is NOTHING someone can say, send, threaten, or ask them to keep secret that would make them afraid to come to me. I’d rather they call me and tell me the truth every single time than stay silent because they’re afraid they’ll get in trouble. ❤️

@Nyachwo Brenda Absolutely! That open communication is so important. I want my children to know they can always come to me, especially when something makes them uncomfortable or scared. I’d rather they call me knowing we can work through it together than be afraid of getting in trouble and try to handle something serious alone. ❤️
Your life has a design, but understanding that design takes time.
“Your life has a design, but understanding that design takes time.” — Renee Howard Along the way, you’ll have many purposes—things you’re called to learn, build, nurture, survive, and become. Faith is foundational because it keeps you grounded while everything else is still taking shape. Sometimes the systems that help you survive can also become places you grow comfortable depending on. The goal is to receive the help you need without losing sight of the life you’re still responsible for building. Eventually, you begin to recognize the traps, not simply as failures, but as lessons. And with every lesson, you understand your design a little more. The more you learn who you are, what you value, what you’re capable of, and what God has placed inside you, the more intentionally you can move from survival to independence, and build a life that gives you a reason to keep getting up and becoming. 💜

This spoke to me! 🙏🏾 I’m learning that even the seasons I thought I was just surviving were teaching me something. I don’t have to have the whole picture figured out I just have to trust God and keep becoming. 💜
The Pen Is Still in Your Hand ✍🏾✨
Your past may explain some chapters, but it doesn’t get to decide how your story ends. 🤍 The enemy may have tried to use heartbreak, disappointment, mistakes, trauma, or detours to convince you that your story was already written—but he never had the pen. God is still restoring. You’re still healing. And there are still pages left to write. 🙌🏾 “You can rewrite your story. The Devil doesn’t have the pen.” — Kittie Rose Turn the page. This chapter can look different. ❤️‍🔥

@Alisha Michele Amen!! 🙌🏾🙏🏾 And I’m believing that with you! The past may be part of your story, but it doesn’t get to write the ending. God still has the pen, and I truly believe the best is yet to come. ❤️
