Doctor appointment
Hi fellow coaches! I’m wondering how you deal with a client that can’t push back on a doctor that is pushing pills on her. My client understands what we are doing to get her on the right path to healing but has to go to the doctor every few months and always come back with a new medication. What should I do? She has now transitioned to keto and we are very slowly going toward carnivore. Her health improved but still dealing with energy issues. My vision is to get rid of medication along the way , which I suspect leads to more harm than benefits. Since we don’t say to our clients to take or not take a medication, how do you deal with this?

I would just point out the improvements she has made in her health, but unfortunately she has to work with her clinician to get off any meds she may be on and this may take some time to accomplish.

@Mathieu Morin I guess your only recourse to get her off of the meds would be some concrete improvements in bloodwork, for instance. Then the clinician wouldn't have a choice. I guess you can suggest that she not take the meds if she is seeing improvement in her symptoms. As long as you state that it is only your educated opinion, then she should have no recourse against you. Other than that, I believe telling anyone to "outright" stop taking their meds can be a slippery slope and I should think can get you into trouble as a certified coach. But I'm not well versed in the law, so don't quote me on that.
Why Water is Dehydrating 🥤💦
Water alone is a poor protocol for hydration. In what ways can water, alone, be dehydrating? How do you steer clients towards a proper hydration protocol?

That’s partly right, but it’s an oversimplification. Water itself doesn’t magically “hydrate” cells. Hydration is a whole-body process involving water absorption, electrolytes, blood volume, and movement of water into cells. Mitochondria do depend on water for normal cellular metabolism, but they aren’t the thing that “hydrates you.” In fact, mitochondria also produce metabolic water when they use oxygen to oxidize nutrients.
First coaching completed
Hello everyone, Just finished my first coaching. A couple with a few health problems ( post cancer for her and non-alcoholic fatty liver + cirrhosis for him and both over weight ) already a bit knowledgeable about keto. They went through the whole process of transitioning and got great results. However they chose to quit during summer despite being healthier. Main reason for quitting is they missed the food they used to eat and got bored of eating meat. I closed our last meeting without judging them and kept my door open for them if they want to try again. I feel quite disappointed with the ending of all this despite the great results we achieved. Is there anything I could have done, I didn’t want to pressure them. By your experience, does it take a few attempts to get people to stick with the diet or is this inevitable to lose some clients? Does a large portion of your clients quit and never go back to carnivore?

Getting them to at least "try" the carnivore diet is a big hurdle. I had this guy at the gym I was hoping to coach. He is really fat. So, I sent him a meal plan to get him started. He looked at it and said, "what are you trying to give me a heart attack, with all this meat and fat?" I just threw my hands up.
day 2 on carnivore
Hey eveyrone im day two on carnivore very high fat and I feel really bad right now. I feel as though I am lifeless, super tired, and flat and super low energy. Hate it. How long did it take for you to feel unreal and you feel just a bit better or more stabe, or do you feel like a superhuman? Like unreal? How did tou feel after 1, 5, 7, 14, 30 days on carnivore? I am consuming lots of salt, drinking lots of water, and I eat high fat high or medium protein

I think only a very few feel "superhuman" on the carnivore diet and that's probably only with adding things like regular weight training. The carnivore diet is not and never has been a "cure all". It's taken me a very long time to feel anything eating a carnivore diet.
Does protein make you fat?
An interesting question from one of our students! How would you respond? 🤔

@Mia Franco I used to think I was insulin resistant even after eating a carnivorous diet for over 4 years. My fasting insulin (and pretty much all day for that matter) was around 120, but I came to realize, after consulting with people in this community, that it was actually a thing called glucose sparing. When one becomes fat adapted, one will use fat for fuel instead of glucose, so your circulating glucose will be higher "sparing" it for tissues that need it. As a result, more glucose is kept in the bloodstream.

@Mia Franco I don't believe in the context of "glucose sparing" (higher blood glucose levels) it leads to fat gain. You can also be in ketosis with higher blood glucose as well, because you are using fat for fuel.

I am retired, have been carnivore for around 4 years now and have seen amazing results. Glad to have joined this community.
