I'm the only odd man out, I couldn't publish on Amazon cause my bank account is in unsupported country. I'm from Uganda and I currently work is saudi Arabia as a housekeeper, nanny and everything concerning a household.
But during my little self time, I thought about how far I have come, from teenager pregnancy, loss of a child, another pregnancy, being abandoned, rejected, and my life experiences in relationships, low- self-esteem until finding my worth that led to the birth of this book.
From Ugly to Unbowed is more than a story—it is my journey through teenager pregnancy, rejection, poverty, heartbreak, single motherhood, shame, loneliness, and the painful experiences that can make a person question their worth. It is the story of a woman who was wounded by life but refused to let her wounds become the definition of her identity.
For years, I carried the weight of words and experiences of being told I was not beautiful enough, not worthy enough, not loved enough, and not enough. I knew what it meant to be rejected. I knew hunger. I knew disappointment. I knew what it felt like to watch dreams fade and to wonder whether life would ever become better.
But somewhere beneath my pain, there was strength I had not yet discovered.
This book is about that discovery.
It is about learning that being rejected does not make you rejectable. Being poor does not make you worthless. Being broken does not mean you cannot be rebuilt. And the way people treat you does not determine the value you carry within you.
Through raw memories, difficult lessons, moments of vulnerability, and stories of survival, I opened the pages of my life—not to seek pity, but to show what is possible when a wounded woman decides to rise.
From Ugly to Unbowed is for the woman who has cried in silence.
It is for the woman who has been made to feel small.
It is for the woman who has lost herself trying to be enough for others.
It is for anyone who has ever wondered whether their past has the power to destroy their future.
Most importantly, it is a reminder that;
Your story does not end where your pain began.
You may have been broken, but you are not defeated.
You may have been rejected, but you are not unwanted.
You may have been wounded, but you can still heal.
And you may have once felt ugly in the eyes of the world, but you can rise—unbowed, unapologetic, and fully aware of your worth.
This is my story.
This is my journey.
This is how I went from ugly to unbowed
