I’ve found that the best times to hit Burlington to get the good shit before the other collectors clear them out are Monday Wednesday and Friday afternoons. I asked a worker and she said that’s when they get and stock the deliveries. So far that info has been accurate. Any of the off days I went there’s nothing but the usual Messi, Lattafa Asad, and the age old Guess and CK frags and cheap knock off “clones” that last ten minutes. The days I went at the right times I was able to grab some absolute BANGERS like Rayhaan Lion (JPG Ultramale), Vulcan Fue (SHL God of Fire), French Avenue Obsidian (Angel Share On The Rocks), Shiyakka Snow, Black and Silver (LV Meteore, CH Bad Boy Cobalt, Amuage Reflection Man). All for very cheap!

Ive had this one for a few months now, and its the best blind buy purchase ive ever made! I had been waiting for a good deal on Y, and this clone came on sale first, so i thought id try it... Its a total banger! The opening isnt exactly Y edp, but its pleasant enough and the dry down is a near perfect replica. The beer coozie bottle isn't very sexy, and the giant plastic thermos lid cap leaves something to be desired... but the juice is perfect, and the atomizer is fine. I did finally find a deal on YSL and ended up buying the new Y Iced. I put Mega on one arm and Y Iced on the other, after 6 hrs they were lasting and projecting equally well. (Above average, but not beastmode.) In short, the only thing to complain about Mega is the aesthetics of the bottle. For about 1/4 the price of Y EDP, Odyssey Mega is a solid choice for any fragrance value hunter.

I picked this one up out of curiosity after seeing all the rave reviews saying how close it was to YSL Y EDP. Turns out they were right. I loved it so much I sold my YSL bottle and kept this one. Some of these clones are getting so good it almost makes it unjustified to pay the extra money for the OG if the scent is so close! Even if the OG quality is slllliiiiggghhhttttly better in a side by side comparison, I ask myself, is that very slight bump in quality worth the significant bump in price? For me in my tax bracket, the answer is no most of the time. Clearly there are a TON of clones that are pure liquid garbage in a bottle. But the really good ones seem to be getting better and better.
The Gym Scent!?!
Which scent would you guys use for the gym, and why?

Something light, sporty, aquatic or citrusy. Preferably one of my shorter lasting fragrances so by the time my workout is over, the scent is wearing off and by the time I shower it’s Gina and I can choose something else for the rest of the day (or re-apply if I want to keep smelling the same). For me I switch between YSL Y EDP, ADG Profumo, Pacific Rock Moss, PDM Sedley, Montblanc Legend Red. Inoffensive freshies. Stuff like that.

I do my first spray test in the box basically making it a giant rectangular tester strip, huff that baby, pass it around, then toss it. Then it goes on skin and I see if I can tell any difference.
Your “Gateway Fragrance”
What was the one fragrance that started your journey? Maybe it’s the first one you picked up as a youngster? Or maybe something you smelled on your father uncle or grandfather when you were younger? Something you sampled in a department store perhaps that stood out more than anything you’ve ever smelled? For me it was Prada Paradigme. I was working in the press box of my local independent league baseball team. One of our celebrity co-owners came in for an in game interview on the TV/Radio broadcast and MY GOODNESS as soon as he stepped in the room filled with an aromatic aura of elegance! I never got to find out what his fragrance was as he was in and out very quickly and I was swamped with work. But that experience peaked my interest in finding something that I can use to help me smell good and feel good. Not long after, I found myself at Nordstroms sampling everything I could before I experienced nose fatigue, hoping I can find what it was he was wearing that night. I never did find what it was but I did take note of many other fragrances I tried that tickled my fancy. Prada Paradigme was at the top of that list so I saved up the little extra money I had and bought a 100ml bottle as soon as I could. Since then I wanted so many more as I watched a lot of fragrance content and learned about the olifacfory pyramid, different notes and accords, and communities like this one. One thing I’m very thankful I found was the world of clones/dupes/inspired by’s. As someone who is on the lower end of the income spectrum, all the fragrances I wanted seemed so out of reach until I learned about these. Now I feel like I can match a fragrance with my budget and have a well rounded collection I am very happy with and that continues to evolve with my taste and knowledge on the subject. What was your “Gateway Fragrance”?

@Jon Jacobs Tom Ford really opened my eyes (nose?) to what can be done with fragrance beyond your typical mass appealing department store stuff.

40 year old who never put much thought into dressing classy at all until now. Pretty much starting from scratch with a very low budget.
