The Need to Finish the Thought
I sometimes wonder whether interrupting with ADHD comes partly from the feeling that if I don’t say the thought right now, what I “need” to say may disappear forever.
So while another person is talking, part of my brain is listening and another part is desperately trying to hold onto the thought I don’t want to lose. I can’t do both.
It’s not an excuse for me interrupting, but me understanding what’s happening makes it easier to work on. Has anyone found a way to remember a thought without losing it?
